Most Seahawks fans are disconsolate these days. It’s going to take a while to get over this one. We were so close to victory and then in an instant it was all gone.

As I can’t imagine anyone doesn’t know what happened, I think it was the most highly viewed show in US history, I will skip the details. What I would like to say however is I don’t know why they called the pass either. I say that because everyone seems to think I do.

I am one of the few true Seahawks fans in Tennessee. And apparently, because of that, most people think I have frequent conversations with the coaching staff. I have been asked why they didn’t run by every single person I have run into. And it is not a flippant “Why did they run that play, and where are we at on that project” type question. It is a “I am glad you came in for your Americano today, because I really want to know why they didn’t run on that play Matt W. Seriously why didn’t they give it to Lynch?”

My response to everyone in Tennessee is the same. “Well, I am just as confused by the call as 315 million other Americans… Seriously, no one understands… Yes they truly did snatch defeat from the jaws of victory… Really, I am just a fan, Pete Carroll and I don’t hang out.” Seriously, dozens of times the last few days, over and over, the exact same response. I find it interesting I get the same flow of questions every time.

My west coast buddies just need to talk. They ask me the same question about the play call over and over, but it is far more rhetorical in nature. What they really want it is just one more person to help shoulder the burden of the loss. It’s like if they talk to enough people the weight will be miraculously lifted and they can make it through more than a few minutes of work without wanting to scream “WHY DIDN’T THEY JUST GIVE IT TO MARSHAWN!!!”

The only person that said anything different was the Green Bay Packer fan I know. Packer fans have been hurting the last couple of weeks from their disappointing gift of a loss to the Seahawks. Apparently the healing process for the Packer Nation has begun as he had a really big smile on his face when he said, “At least we didn’t give away the Super Bowl.”

Touché.

The Seahawks are already favored to win Super Bowl 50, so at least we have that going for us.

Bring on the draft and GO HAWKS!

Super Bowl 50 Champions, I like the sound of that.
